The Borno State Government has taken its grassroots social investment drive to Mafa Local Government Area, presenting a ₦260 million intervention to 520 vulnerable individuals, households and small and medium-scale businesses in the community.

The intervention, implemented through the Borno State Social Investment Management Programme (BOSIMP), was formally presented on Thursday, September 24, 2026, by the programme’s management team led by its General Manager, Dr. Amdan Lawan, on the directive of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

The latest intervention represents another phase of the Governor's continuing efforts to extend targeted economic and social support to vulnerable citizens and strengthen livelihoods at the grassroots.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Amdan said the initiative reflected Governor Zulum's sustained commitment to reaching vulnerable members of communities across Borno State.

He explained that the Mafa edition comprises 520 beneficiaries with a total intervention value of ₦260 million, covering vulnerable groups, vulnerable households and small and medium-scale enterprises.

According to him, Governor Zulum established the social investment programme to provide direct support to vulnerable citizens, promote small businesses and advance youth empowerment across the state.

He said the Mafa intervention was being implemented as part of the Governor"s continuing commitment to ensuring that the benefits of government programmes reach communities at the grassroots.

"We are here in Mafa today on the directive of His Excellency, the Governor of Borno State, to formally present this intervention to the people," Dr. Amdan said.

He disclosed that the necessary modalities for disbursement had already been concluded, with the programme's technical team prepared to commence the process.

The BOSIMP General Manager further assured beneficiaries that the management would promptly address any technical challenges that might arise during disbursement, stressing the programme&pos;s commitment to ensuring a smooth implementation.

The intervention comes against the backdrop of the Borno State Government's broader efforts to combine reconstruction and recovery with measures aimed at strengthening household resilience, supporting livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities for citizens.

The event was attended by the Mafa Local Government Chairman, former local government chairmen, councillors, political leaders, community leaders and other stakeholders.

Speaking separately, community leaders expressed appreciation to Governor Zulum for extending the intervention to Mafa, describing the support as a significant gesture towards vulnerable households and local businesses.

They commended the administration for sustaining social investment interventions across the state and for directing attention to communities at the grassroots.

The stakeholders also expressed optimism that the ₦260 million intervention would provide meaningful support to beneficiaries, strengthen small businesses and contribute to improved livelihoods within the Mafa community.

For BOSIMP, the Mafa intervention represents another practical expression of its mandate to translate the state government’s social protection and economic empowerment agenda into direct support for citizens across Borno.
