The Borno State Social Investment Programme (BO-SIMP) today held the official cheque presentation ceremony for the Educational Social Support approved by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for 204 vulnerable youths from Bama who recently secured admission into Kashim Shettima University.

Speaking during the event at the BO-SIMP Office, the General Manager, Dr. Lawan Amdan, explained that the initiative is part of Governor Zulum’s broader social intervention and recovery efforts targeted at communities affected by insurgency. He stated that each beneficiary will receive ₦200,000 annually, which will be credited directly into their bank accounts in line with the programme’s transparency policy.

Dr. Lawan further noted that the beneficiaries were identified through the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Bama Chapter, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting grassroots communities and enabling resilient young people to pursue education despite the challenges they face.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman of NYCN Bama Chapter, Comrade Zannah Abba Lawan, expressed appreciation to Governor Zulum for sustaining his unwavering support to the youths of Bama. He assured the Governor of effective monitoring of the programme and commended the leadership of BO-SIMP for its dedication and coordination.

The event was attended by parents of the beneficiaries, local government officials, and senior BO-SIMP personnel, including the Director of Administration and Supply, Hajiya Fatima Abba Mani, and the Director of Finance and Accounts, Ahmadu Bello Mamza.

The beneficiaries and their parents thanked Governor Zulum for the life-changing opportunity, pledging to work hard and make the best use of the support.
